Faith Ward interview, FT Live: “This is the decade when we need to take action”.
The financial industry needs to take urgent action on climate this decade, cutting emissions by at least 7% per year, Faith Ward, Chief Responsible Investment Officer at Brunel Pension Partnership, said in an interview at the FT Investing for Good Conference.
Asked about how the industry can make the change, Faith highlighted the value of the Net Zero Investor Framework drawn up by the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change. Brunel was heavily involved in the creation and road-testing of the framework and announced its own commitment in line with the framework earlier this year.
She also stressed the need for investors to work in coordination, ensuring that they use shared standards and metrics, but also operate through industry bodies to bring change, among them, Climate Action 100+.
In a wide-ranging interview, Faith also spoke about the impact of the pandemic on equality, the threat of greenwashing and how to ensure investment managers factor climate into how they invest.
