Chris van der Merwe receives Brunel's award for Private Markets at the IPE Transition Awards in Brussels

Brunel Pension Partnership has been named the winner in the private markets category at the IPE Transition Awards in Brussels.

The new awards, which draw leading climate investors from across Europe, focus specifically on the investing for the climate transition.

“Investing for a world worth living in means living by your values and sometimes taking difficult decisions – so it is always encouraging when those we respect acknowledge the work that we do,” said Laura Chappell, CEO at Brunel. “Our private market investments provide an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in how to effectively transition to a low-carbon economy – and ensure real-world change.”

Brunel’s private market portfolios cover property, infrastructure, secured income, private debt, and private equity – it also launched a local impact portfolio in 2022. Through these portfolios, Brunel is able to impact and support projects working towards Net Zero. Private market investments can make an exceptionally tangible impact in driving the transition. “Working with our General Partners, Brunel’s private markets team ensures we are adding value to projects, pursuing innovation in our approach to deals, and supporting the energy transition,” said Chappell.

The Environment Agency Pension Fund and Wiltshire Pension Fund, two of Brunel’s clients, won in the Public Markets and Stewardship Communications categories, respectively.

“Big congratulations to both the Environment Agency Pension Fund and the Wiltshire Pension Fund on their awards,” said Chappell. “Our climate ambitions have only enjoyed success because they are ambitions shared across our partnership.”

Brunel’s Faith Ward was also Highly Commended for her “Outstanding Contribution to Stewardship”, in recognition of her multi-decade impact.
