British Solar Renewables (BSR) is a leading renewable energy company based in Somerset, with over a decade of experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems. A significant proportion of its projects, including those in the pipeline, are in the Southwest, where most of Brunel’s partner funds are also based – such as Aller Court Solar Farm, Somerset (see image) and Westmill Solar Park, Wiltshire. In 2024, BSR was granted planning permission to construct an additional 500MW of solar and storage projects – equivalent to the electricity supply for around 135,000 homes. To support this growth, Brunel entered a co-investment with BSR, alongside its partner ICG, through our Cycle 2 Renewable Infrastructure portfolio. In addition to contributing to sustainability and energy security, BSR has committed to achieving a 60% biodiversity net gain for each project, as part of its Nature Protection Pledge – increasing biodiversity, supporting healthy ecosystems, and combining clean energy generation with agricultural support.
